The state of current international environmental governance (IEG) is fraught with criticism over its fragmented structure, lack of enforcement power, and overly broad scope. These three themes run deep in Chambers and Green's analysis of feasible reformations to IEG. Reforming International Environmental Governance examines the weaknesses of existing structure of IEG and considers alternative institutional arrangements that would ideally address the identified problems. Chambers and Green posit three aspects by which IEG can be made more effective: coherence, centralization, and compliance. While successful in its review and taxonomy of institutional challenges and solutions, Reforming International Environmental Governance is plagued ultimately by its inability to advance the agenda for IEG reform as far as it ambitiously aspires.
